CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS- PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY
In association with Crow’s Theatre, Rebecca Northan, as a Crow’s Theatre/ RBC Emerging Director, is creating a Spontaneous Theatre Ensemble in Toronto as a fulfillment of her director's project.
Rebecca Northan, best known for her hit-show Blind Date, and other Spontaneous Theatre creations such as Legend Has It (premiered at the playRites Festival), An Undiscovered Shakespeare (with the Stratford Festival), and Undercover (a co-production with Tarragon Theatre and Vertigo Theatre) is looking to develop a group of Toronto Artists who are interested in gaining skills in the Spontaneous Theatre genre.
Participants should have a strong background in acting, and an open curiosity about improvisation as it applies to long form narratives, specifically using an audience member in the lead role. Previous improv experience is helpful, but not necessary. Musical theatre background is an asset, but not a requirement.
The Ensemble will meet Monday evenings, 6pm - 9:30pm, staring June 5th, for 8 weeks, with the possibility of extension further into the summer.
Through the generous support of Crows Theatre, and RBC, there is NO COST to the Artist for this professional development opportunity.
Audition requirements:
Actors will audition in small groups in the last week of April. Be prepared to share up to TWO monologues (one serious, one comedic), as well as being lead through a series of improv games.
Please submit a headshot and resume as well as a short letter of interest outlining why you are applying, what you hope to get out of the workshop, and any thoughts you want to share on improv.
